Great Apes
Home to the largest number of mountain gorillas in the world. Standing eye to eye with the gentle giants in Bwindi Impenetrable or Mgahinga National Park is a real highlight. Also a visit to the chimpanzees – our closest relatives – in Kibale Forest should not be missing

Safari
Uganda has an extremely diverse wildlife, including the Big Five (lion, elephant, leopard, buffalo, rhino) as well as cheetahs, zebras, giraffes, antelopes and many more. The best places for a wildlife encounter are Queen Elizabeth, Murchison Falls and Kidepo National Park

Active Tours
The pearl of Africa offers everything the outdoor heart desires: mountain tours, white-water rafting, bungee jumping or horseback riding. Trekking and mountain hiking fans will get their money’s worth in the Rwenzori Mountains or Mount Elgon National Park, adrenaline junkies will find a variety of exciting activities around Jinja.

Cultural Heritage
65 indigenous communities and tribes with unique cultural heritage, lifestyles and history – this is Uganda, a country with one of the greatest cultural diversities.

World of Birds
With over 1,067 bird species, Uganda is the country with the richest world of birds in Africa and a paradise not only for ornithologists. Among the most exotic species are the shoebill, the rwenzori, the giant turaco, the African rush rail and the broad kite.
Tourist infrastructure
The airport in Entebbe is the starting and end point of all connections, whereby Uganda can only be reached from Europe with a stopover. The tourist infrastructure has been improved continuously over the last years. For example, some of the busiest tourist roads have been paved to shorten travel time between attractions. However, most of the roads still have a gravel or dirt surface. The hotel industry has also made great strides, and there are now hotels for a variety of needs in all of the national parks and along the hiking trails.
Climate and travel season
Due to its location on the equator, Uganda has a tropical climate with moderate temperatures all year round. In the central part of the country, temperatures range between 15 and 27° Celsius, in the north it is much warmer. The country is characterized by two rainy seasons: the big rainy season in April/May and the small rainy season in November/December. Due to the sometimes large water masses that fall during this time, Uganda is a very green country for Africa.
The best time to travel is along the dry season from June to October, although isolated rain showers must be expected all year round.
Visa and entry
Germans, Austrians and Swiss need a passport and a visa to enter Uganda. The passport must be valid for at least six months and contain at least two free double pages.
